I mentioned in last weeks post that I’m doing a Decan Walk this year and I’m here this week to share my closing thoughts on Aries season and a little playlist I put together.
First of all, I have been sort of obsessed with the cards for Aries 3 I mean…look at this:

Sitting with these cards has me thinking back to the time that I had a ritualized marriage ceremony with myself back in 2017๐. Until that point in time I was very wary of myself. I did not trust myself. And being where I was in my healing journey at the time; I did not understand that I.AM.ALL.I.GOT. I didn’t understand then that I am always going to be my biggest enemy and also my greatest cheerleader.
I look back and I’m in awe of the choice that I made then. To decide that if nobody else would have me, I WOULD. That if there was no one to blame for all I had been through that I would take on the responsibility.
I don’t think I really understood the commitment I was making at the time (I was a baby witch doing the best I could with what I knew). But I think that’s the point. I look to the first and second set of cards for Decans 1&2 and see somebody making a plan and beginning to execute it. By the time we reach Aries 3 nothing has come to fruition: it’s too fast, it’s too quick. What we are celebrating in the Four of Wands is the fact that we have had the dream and we have started to take the steps in order to bring it to life.
That is very hard work.
It is hard to decide that despite what you see in your immediate vicinity something else is possible. It is hard to say yes to all of that potentiality in the face of uncertainty. But I implore you: say yes anyway. Say yes like your love depends on it.
Playlists are so personal so I encourage you to make your own, but these songs stood out to me as I sat with the cards for the Sun’s movement through Aries this past month.
- Superbloom by Misterwives
- Favorite Line: “I deserve congratulations, I never thought that I’d survive, If you tell me I won’t make it, that’s when I, that’s when I, Superbloom”
- NGL this song damn near makes me cry from time to time. It’s a song about triumphing over very difficult times. It’s a song that celebrates the hard work of healing beyond the unsavory and renewed self-trust.
- Favorite Line: “I deserve congratulations, I never thought that I’d survive, If you tell me I won’t make it, that’s when I, that’s when I, Superbloom”
- In Ha Mood by Ice Spice
- Favorite Line: “If I was bitches I’d hate me a lot”
- I’ve got this Spotify playlist called “๐ฅ๐ถ๐ฟโโ๏ธ” for when I wanna walk but like…confidently. This song is perfect for that list. It’s offering some Aries-esque&Mars-esque confidence and crass-ness that feel apropro.
- Favorite Line: “If I was bitches I’d hate me a lot”
- Float (feat. Seun Kuti&Egypt 80) By Janelle Monae
- Favorite Line: “I used to walk into the room head down, I don’t walk now I. float”
- I am obsessed with Janelle Monae’s work so ofc her newest song made this list. It’s so relevant though. It’s inherently a song about renewal which feels amazing for spring.
- Favorite Line: “I used to walk into the room head down, I don’t walk now I. float”
- The King’s Affirmation by Iniko
- Favorite Line: “I will be one of the greatest, that is a vow, yeah, that is a promise”
- This is the 2 of Wands. This is the 3 of Wands.
- Favorite Line: “I will be one of the greatest, that is a vow, yeah, that is a promise”
- My Success is Inevitable by Geminelle, Casket D., Charlotte Douglas, Dom Banton
- Favorite Line: ๐ I’m pretty sure the only line in this song is “I will win, my success, is inevitable” so yeah, that.
- This is the gumption. This is the nerve. This is the unmitigated gall.
- Favorite Line: ๐ I’m pretty sure the only line in this song is “I will win, my success, is inevitable” so yeah, that.
- Champion by Fall Out Boy
- Favorite Line: “I’m just young enough to still believe, but young enough not to know what to believe in”
- This song does a beautiful job at contending with the tension of being an adult but also still the same child who doesn’t know much. It’s motivational but also very honest and mildly existential.
- Favorite Line: “I’m just young enough to still believe, but young enough not to know what to believe in”
- You Get What You Focus on (Motivational Speech) by Tom Bilyeu
- Favorite Line: The whole thing. Sometimes I wanna be yelled at but like, motivationally. This is great for those days.
- Take Up Space Sis by Toni Jones
- Favorite Line: “I use my voice, my heart, my thoughts, my truth, to speak up about what I want”
- The idea of taking up space feels really relevant in the context of making more room to feel desire and seeing more opportunities to act out desire.
- Favorite Line: “I use my voice, my heart, my thoughts, my truth, to speak up about what I want”
- Say So by Doja Cat
- Favorite Line: “It’s been a long time since you, fell in love, you ain’t comin out your shell, you ain’t really been yourself”
- In this song Doja Cat(the Siren) is beckoning us to dare to wear our he(art) on our sleeve and be energetically clear about what we want.
- Favorite Line: “It’s been a long time since you, fell in love, you ain’t comin out your shell, you ain’t really been yourself”
- Hey Look Ma, I Made It by Panic! At the Disco
- Favorite Line: “Eveything’s coming up aces, aces, If it’s a dream don’t wake me, wake me”
- In this one Urie repeats that he must be dreaming throughout the song. If, the 4 of Wands marks a crucial turning point where the dream is not quite manifest but seeds have been planted, then, there is an element of traversing our dreamscapes for hints and clues about what is to come. Like don’t wake me up bc I’m on a journey with my spirit guide rn.
- Favorite Line: “Eveything’s coming up aces, aces, If it’s a dream don’t wake me, wake me”
- I Found Love by The Free Design
- Favorite Line: “I found love in the spring, and I did not lose a thing, I found love in the fall, and it did not hurt at all”
- This song tastes like bubblegum. I do readings at a local – mostly vintage/slightly metaphysical shop- and this jam came on and I could not resist dancing to it. It’s a love song that does not ache, or yearn, or beg. It, be. It is also a love song that…focuses on love itself. Not an-other person. Just like…love in general, which feels so so sweet and so so in alignment with marrying YOU.
- Favorite Line: “I found love in the spring, and I did not lose a thing, I found love in the fall, and it did not hurt at all”
Happy honeymooning, and much love.
